Ancient houses in the Temple, and the grave of Oliver Goldsmith, [London], 1860. 'On an evening in April, 1774, it is recorded, the poet was buried without the building of the Temple Church. Mr. Cunningham says that this interment took place to the east of the choir. We have, however, a tradition that Goldsmith was buried opposite the door leading to the vestry...On one side of this memorial is inscribed "Here lies Oliver Goldsmith;" on the other, "Born March 10, 1728. Died 4th April, 1774."...Many come here, particularly visitors from America and foreign places, to look for this grave...'. From "Illustrated London News", 1860.
