Oedipe chez le Sphinx, 1842. Oedipus and the Sphinx. Ce vilaín animal a tête d'antiquaire, Lui dit: 'Pourquoi, monsieur, ne faut-il pas compter Sur une pyramide?' Alors sans hésiter Oedipe repondit: 'C'est qu'elles sont près Caire. Pour un vieux calembourg on peut s'en contenter'. (This ugly animal with the head of an antique dealer said to him: 'Why, sir, should we not count on a pyramid?' Then without hesitation Oedipus replied: 'It's because they are near Cairo.
