Krishna Subdues Kaliya, c1800. One of young Krishna's most popular feats in Vraja is his triumph over the serpent Kaliya who polluted the Yamuna River. This battle may be symbolic of the conflict between cults of Krishna worshippers and serpent (naga) worshippers.
