The family of the wholesaler Johann Christian Edler von Bruchmann, 1810. The family portrait shows the wholesaler Johann Christian Edler von Bruchmann (1769-1849), who came from Cologne but lived in Vienna since 1788, with his wife Justina, called Weis (1774-1840, married 1797), and his son Franz Seraph (1798-1867 ) and daughters Sibylla Justina (1799-1820), Isabella Josepha (1801-1836) and Justina Johanna Maria (1805-1829). The oval double portrait that Franz Seraph holds in his hands probably shows the merchant's parents, the merchant and factory owner in Cologne, Christian August Joseph Bruchmann and Sibylle, née von Offermann. The painter of the picture, Josef Abel, has himself immortalized in the medallion on the left edge of the picture.
