Giovanni Bellini and Albrecht Dürer are celebrated by Venetian artists, 1856. Among the passengers in a gondola are Albrecht Dürer (with hood, beard and long hair to the left under the canopy). Next to him in yellow is Giovanni Bellini. In black opposite Dürer is Titian. With this staged imaginary meeting of the most famous painters of their time, Jacopo d'Andrea evokes the outstanding era of Venetian painting in the 16th century. In the background is the Campanile on St. Mark's Square, and the Doge's Palace. The painting was commissioned by the Austrian imperial house.
