A Bright Day, c1835-1840. Dupré was one of the few Barbizon artists to spend a significant amount of time in England, visiting for four months in 1831. This luminous view suggests not only his interest in outdoor painting but also his admiration for the atmospheric landscapes and dramatic skies of the English artist John Constable.
