Pleasure-boats on the Ornamental Water in Regent's Park, [London], 1861. 'The attractions of Regent's Park have recently been increased by the addition of pleasure-boats for hire, which have been placed on the ornamental water with the approval of the first Commissioner of her Majesty's Works. A floating pier has been constructed for the convenience of those who wish to avail themselves of this new source of health and recreation. The boats may be hired every day (Sunday excepted) at a charge of one shilling an hour for skiffs, and eighteenpence an hour for party boats, or half-a-crown with a man. Each boat is provided with a life-preserver, and those of the lighter sort are not to carry more than two persons, so that the safety as well as the amusement of the public is duly provided for'. From "Illustrated London News", 1861.
