Fuller (Baptist) Chapel, Kettering, Northamptonshire, 1861. Engraving from a photograph by Mr. Farey. 'This new and commodious place of worship...is erected on the site of the old chapel, which is closely associated with the names of Robert Hall, Fuller, Carey, and other celebrated members of the Baptist community...The chapel is of Lombardic design, with a little Gothic feeling in the details. The front is built entirely of Ancaster stone, ornamented by a pediment with a one-storied porch, the whole enriched with coloured tiles and bold, vigorous stone carving...All the approaches are paved with Minton's encaustic tiles, and the whole of the woodwork is varnished instead of being painted. Warming apparatus and every possible requisite are provided, and the place is lighted by twelve huge gasburners, each giving forth twelve jets of light. The chapel will hold about 850 persons, and has cost about £4000, the whole of which has been raised by voluntary contributions. The minister is the Rev. James Mursell. The architect is Mr. Sharman, of Wellingborough; and the builder Mr. Henson, of Kettering'. From "Illustrated London News", 1861.
