Alexandrofski central prison about sixty versts from Irkutsk, 1886. The central prison in the village of Aleksandrovsk was approximately forty miles south of Irkutsk on the Angara River. Originally built as a distillery, the building was remodeled as a prison in 1874. It was considered one of the best and largest prisons in Siberia and held approximately 1,000 convicts.
