Progress of the International Exhibition Building: the stairs, 1862. Engraving showing '...a section of the building in which is a staircase leading from the basement to the galleries. The sketch faithfully represents the character of the staircases, and the glimpse which it gives of the area of the building enables an idea to be formed of its general appearance'. The International Exhibition of 1862 was a world's fair held from 1 May to 1 November 1862 in South Kensington, London. The site now houses museums including the Natural History Museum and the Science Museum. From "Illustrated London News", 1862.
