The International Cattle Show at Poissy, 1862. Engraving from photographs by M. Richebourg, photographer to the French Government. 'One of Mr. Thomas West's prize of honour Cotswolds; one of M. de Lalouel de Sourdeval's prize of honour Berrichon-Cotswold-Berrichons... The prize of honour for the best English pen of sheep fell to Mr. Thomas West, of Greenhill, Bletchington, a tenant of Lord Valentia, who won a prize here in 1855. The French-bred prize of honour sheep was of the Berrichon-Cotswold-Berrichon cross, which has prospered in the hands of M. Lalouel de Sourdeval, who has also used South- downs very freely to cross with his Berrichons'. From "Illustrated London News", 1862.
