Opening of the International Exhibition Building, [South Kensington, London]: the procession forming in the South Central Court, 1862. 'It was here that the Royal commissioners for the exhibition, all their official staff, the deputation from the guarantors, the foreign commissioners, the jurors, the representatives of the different societies who are in some way connected with the exhibition (such as the Society of Arts and the Horticultural Society), the commissioners for the Exhibition of 1851, and such of her Majesty's Ministers as were not allotted special places as representing some of the above departments, assembled at half-past twelve o'clock to receive the Queen's commissioners for the opening of the exhibition'.
