The International Exhibition: Trophy of Armstrong Guns and Coils from the Royal Gun Factories, Woolwich Arsenal, 1862. 'This magnificent trophy is exhibited by John Anderson, the talented Superintendent of the Royal Gun Factories. It consists of a centre stand of coils and guns erected on an elevated base...[around which] are seen several heavy forgings, manufacturing tools, and gauges...The base-plate has four projecting arms spreading out to the corners...Each of these arms terminates with a semi-spherical end, into which a short wrought-iron stud is fitted, in order to sustain in a vertical position a 9-pounder Armstrong gun at each of the four corners'.
