Mdlle. Trebelli, of Her Majesty's Theatre, 1862. Engraving from a photograph by Mr. Macandrew. 'This young and charming artiste was born at Paris, of French parents, in the year 1838. Her extraordinary talents for music were perceived at a very early age...After a complete course of instruction under the most eminent masters, Mdlle. Trebelli, in October, 1859, made her début, at the age of one and twenty, at the Royal Theatre of Madrid. Her success was instant and decided; and from that time to the present her short career has been a series of triumphs. During the years 1860 and 1861 she appeared first at Berlin, and afterwards at all the principal theatres of Germany, Holland, and Belgium. During the last season she was engaged at the Theatre Imperial Italien of Paris; whence she came, at the beginning of the present season, to Her Majesty's Theatre...she has established a position on our Anglo-Italian stage which, for the sake of the English public as well as her own, we hope and believe she will hold for many years to come. At the end of her present engagement, we are informed, she goes to Austria, and then to the Paris Italian Opera, where she is engaged for four seasons'. From "Illustrated London News", 1862.
