The International Exhibition - Wallpaper by Messrs. Scott, Cuthbertson and Co., 1862. The '...pattern, founded on the diamond, is not only exceedingly rich but is altogether new in character, being embossed to a degree which has never before been attained in printed materials. In this example the bands are raised nearly to the height of a quarter of an inch, and are in a delicate grey on a toothed gold ground. The effect of this work is not only surprising, but is exceedingly beautiful, and may be said to be a type of the class of pattern for which the firm which has produced it are so celebrated - raised work of this character, embossed gold, and rich mediaeval and classic designs constituting their specialty'.
