The International Exhibition: vase and candelabra presented to their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince and Princess of Prussia by the City of Berlin, 1862. A '...wedding-gift...[which consists of] four pieces, in solid silver. The designer and modeller is Professor Auguste Fischer, and the work has been executed by him in conjunction with other eminent artists. The table reproduces very perfectly the form of the ancient tripod. It is three feet in height. Three lions' paws, ornamented with foliage, support the centre, around which are three sitting figures of Faith, Love, and Hope, whoso meeting wings bear up the centre pillar of the table, the top of which is thirty inches in diameter and four thick. This top bears on the centre a ground plan of the city of Berlin, surrounded by a raised border, in which are introduced, in gold and enamel, the arms of the various wards of the town...The plateau of the base contains two groups of figures, Science and Art, and Commerce and Industry...The centre of the whole work is the vase, nearly 4ft. high, of a very elegant and pure form, and bearing round its body a relief consisting of upwards of seventy figures, representing the entry of the princely pair into Berlin'.
