Paris fashions for October, 1862. 'Fig. 1. Walking Dress. Robe of very dull black taffety. On the skirt three bands of blue silk ruched with a narrow guipure. High-necked, waistcoat-fashioned corsage; the lower half is covered with silk...White horsehair bonnet, trimmed with a bouquet composed of black satin; pinks, fern, and grass; black lace bavelot, white strings. Fig. 2. Evening Dress. This very graceful dress is of the fashionable light grey foulard, ornamented on the lower part of the skirt with perpendicular pointed stripes of pink silk or velvet emerging from a narrow rose-coloured fluting round the edge. The corsage is highnecked...forming what is called the Zouave vest. The edges of the jockeys and the borders of the cuffs to match as regards the ornamentation Leghorn bonnet, with tufts of flowers placed on one side; large double bavolet and wide strings, both pink...The first [millinery item] represents a pretty muslin sleeve, with very deep linen cuff, embroidered...Opposite to it is another sleeve, also in muslin a bouillons, with wide lace falling over the puffs...Our last Millinery Illustration depicts an elegant fichu Marie Antoinette.
