The British Association at Bath: Druidical circles at Stanton Drew, 1864. 'There was...an excursion, by a party of members of the association, associates, and ladies, to inspect the celebrated Druidical circles at Stanton Drew, eleven miles from Bath...In an orchard at no great distance from the Druidical circles are situate other remarkable remains...The two larger blocks here represented, the one prostrate, and the other standing near, somewhat of the form of the blade of an axe, are called by the inhabitants of the district "The Chopper and Block".'
