Scenes in Japan: the mountain Fusiyama, viewed from near Yokohama, 1864. Engraving from a photograph '...by Signor Beato...of the famous volcanic mountain Fusiyama, as seen from the summit of a bluff near the British quarters at Yokohama. This mountain, 11,000 ft. or 12,000 ft. high, and always crowned with snow, resembles the Peak of Teneriffe in its shape and position. It is the subject of many wonderful legends believed among the Japanese people, who regard it with superstitious veneration'. From "Illustrated London News", 1864.
