The Loan Collection, South-Kensington, 1862. '...a group of silver and silver-gilt spoons, all of the seventeenth century, belonging to Messrs. E. Waterton and W. Stirling. Commencing at the left hand, we have, first, a silver-gilt spoon, with large bowl and short stem of floriated ornament and five rings; next, two silver spoons, the stems surmounted by the Virgin and Child, St. John, and other saints; then follow a silver-gilt Apostle spoon, with figures of saints, of Dutch manufacture; a silver spoon, with various ornamental knobs; a silver folding-fork and spoon combined, surmounted by a figure of Cupid; a silver spoon, with a ship in full sail, on chased stem; and a massive silver-gilt spoon, chased in high relief, with the Entombment and Crucifixion, with inscriptions and numerous figures, continued spirally round the stem, surmounted by an angel holding a chalice'.
