The First-Prize Shorthorn Cow, 1864. 'Northumberland...fought hard for the shorthorn honours against all England, and succeeded in winning an eighth of them - viz., a first for cows, a second for heifers in call or milk, and a third for bull-calves. Evelina 4th, the winner of the first cow prize, is a dark roan, bred by Sir Matthew White Ridley, M.P., of Blagdon, and is by Sir Colin (16,953), dam, Evelina by Lauderdale'.
