The St. Clement Danes Rifle Challenge Cup, won by Captain Scrivener, 1864. 'The prizes to the Westminster Rifles (the Queen's) were presented on the 9th January by Lady Constance Grosvenor, in Westminster Hall. Among the company prizes was the St. Clement Danes challenge cup, a large and beautiful vase, of the value of 60 gs. [ie guineas]. It was subscribed for by the inhabitants of St. Clement Danes, and was won, together with a gold pin (the portcullis) and a marble clock-case, by Captain T. P. Scrivener, of the seventeenth (or St. Clement Danes) company. On receiving the articles from Lady Constance Grosvenor he was loudly cheered. A purse, value £5, by Captain Scrivener, and a rifle telescope and £3, were won by Private J. F. Vincent, of this company'. From "Illustrated London News", 1864.
