A Sketch at the Handel Festival in the Crystal Palace, [London], 1865. View of '...the front of the orchestra, with some of the principal performers, on this grand occasion...The chorus consisted of about 3600 voices, and the instruments numbered about 400, the whole tuneful host exceeding 4000 - a number unprecedented in the annals of modern music. The solo performers were Mdlle. Adelina Patti, Mdme. Lemmens-Sherrington, Mdme. Sainton-Dolby, Mr. Sims Reeves, Mr. Cummings, Mr. Weiss, and Mr. Santley'. From "Illustrated London News", 1865.
