The new hospital for French Protestants, Victoria Park, [London], 1865. 'The style adopted is the old French chateau style...It is built of ornamental brickwork and stone which is in places carved...There is a large day-room for the men, one for the women, a refectory, committee-room, work and store rooms, lavatories for the men and women; there is a vestry, and a small chapel...There is a small gallery to be used for the invalids, and the chapel will contain about 100 persons. The upper part of the budding is occupied with the nurses' rooms, stewards' rooms, and the bed-rooms for the inmates, with baths, store-closets, and every other convenience. The building is warmed with hot-water apparatus, besides the fireplaces. Hot and cold water is laid on throughout the building. The dinners are sent up by lifts, and there is also a lift to send up heavy things...The architect is Mr. R. L. Roumieu...The contractors for the building were Messrs. Longmire and Burge. The warming apparatus is Price's patent'. From "Illustrated London News", 1865.
