Two Male Civilians Riding a Motorcycle on a Float Across the English Channel, 1929. 'Two bright boys crossed the Channel on a motorbike'. Publicity stunt: floats were fitted to a standard 499cc Model E Ariel, with an extra sprocket on the rear hub driving a small propeller. The two Ariel employees crossed the English Channel from Dover to Calais in just under four hours.
