Private Detective Gaston Bullock Means, 1930s. The Lindbergh Baby kidnapping case of 1932 - "the crime of the century". 'A Mrs McLean of Washington had been under stress to pawn the famous Hope Diamond so that a certain Mr. Means might recover the child with the money. But all Mr. Means got was a long stretch [in prison]'. From "Time To Remember - The Tough Guys", 1930s (Reel 2); documentary film, mainly about life in depression- and gangster-hit America.
