Bells of musical stone, 1868. Instrument in the courtyard of a church at Chaffa, near Senafe, Abyssinia, 1868. The '...inclosure is entered surrounding the church, which is overgrown with long grass, and contains two fine old accacia-trees. A cross-piece of timber secured to one of them forms the beam to support three long slabs of different thicknesses, the Abyssinian substitute for a peal of bells'.
