Dinner given by the Inns of Court Volunteers to the Universities Corps, [London], 1868. 'It was mentioned in our last [issue] that these three volunteer corps had a field-day of their own, at Wimbledon, on Tuesday week. The two University corps arrived in London early, and marched to the King's Bench-walk, Temple, where they found the Inns of Court Volunteers, to the number of 152 rank and file, waiting to receive them. The Oxford University Volunteers were but twenty-three in number, under the command of Captain and Adjutant Jones. The other officers were Lieutenant Jermyn and Ensign Hughes. The officers in command, of the Cambridge University battalion, which mustered seventy-three, were Captains Tomlinson, Roe, Lofthouse, Wace, and Coldwell. The Inns of Court Volunteers were under the command of Major Lysley and Captain and Adjutant G. A. Wood. The other officers present were Captains Chitty, Roupell, Brandon, Holgate Lieutenants Quick, Murray, Coltman, Bulwer, Francis; Quartermaster Russell, and Ensign Knox...The University men were entertained by the Inns of Court men with a dinner in the Middle Temple Hall, of which we present an Illustration'.
