King Thackembau, of the Feejee Islands, 1869. Engraving from a photograph '...by Mr. Kerr, of Melbourne, the photographic artist who accompanied H.M.S. Curaçoa in her cruise among the South Sea Islands in 1865'. Seru Epenisa Cakobau (c.1815-1883) was a Fijian chief, monarch, and warlord who united part of Fiji's warring tribes under his leadership, establishing a united Fijian kingdom.
