Prize Cup for the Dominion National Rifle Association of Canada, 1869. 'The cup represented by our Illustration is one of the prizes competed for at the first meeting of the Dominion National Rifle Association of Canada, which took place at Laprairie, near Montreal, in September last. This large cup is the prize of the provincial match, competed for by all the provinces of Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia: it was won by Quebec. The cup becomes the property of that province; but it may be offered for future competition within the province, as the Council of the Provincial Rifle Association shall determine. A smaller cup was presented by Mrs. Macdougall, wife of the Adjutant-General of Militia, and, if won two years in succession, becomes the property of the winner; it was won last year by Lieutenant May, of the 36th (Peel) Battalion of Volunteer Militia of Ontario. Both cups are the workmanship of Messrs. Peters, silversmiths, of Bristol'. From "Illustrated London News", 1869.
