View showing '...the design of Mr. Henry Currey...to be constructed by Mr. Thomas Webster...The several blocks...are placed at a distance of 125 ft. from each other...Corridors run the whole length of the hospital...The beds are placed at distances of 8 ft. from centre to centre, and the windows are arranged alternately with the beds, at a level to enable a patient to look out of them...The accommodation will be sufficient altogether for 588 patients...The chapel, in the centre of the building, is designed to give 300 sittings...The building is to have fireproof floors throughout...The whole building, or rather pile of buildings, will probably be faced with stone, and the cost is estimated at £360,000'.
