In January, 1846, he was called to the Bar by the Hon. Society of Lincoln's Inn...At Liverpool he has for many years been opposed to the late Mr. Edward James, Q.C., in almost every case of importance, and, on the death of that gentleman, he became the virtual leader of the circuit there.
