The Bremer Railway Bridge near Ipswich, Queensland, [Australia], 1868. 'The successful opening of the railway from Ipswich to Toowoomba will have a great influence in promoting the prosperity of the settled districts of Queensland...With one exception, all the larger bridges are constructed of iron, open lattice-work being used in some places in connection with boiler-plate...there can be no doubt that, although slight in appearance, they are both substantial and safe'. From "Illustrated London News", 1868.
