The Meyrick Collection at South Kensington: bicorne, or anvil, Italian, 1869. A specimen from '...the collection of ancient arms and armour formed by Sir Samuel Meyrick, of Goodrich Court, Herefordshire, which is now to be seen in the Great Exhibition Palace at South Kensington...The iron anvil, or bicorne, of fine Italian workmanship, though not itself a piece of armour, has probably served the smiths of the sixteenth century to fabricate many a sword-blade, helmet, or corslet. It is ornamented with figures, chiselled in bold relief, perhaps by the hand of Benvenuto Cellini'. From "Illustrated London News", 1869.
