The Royal Artillery Steeplechase at Woolwich, [south-east London], 1868. 'The annual races arranged by the officers of the Royal Artillery at Woolwich were well attended yesterday week. There were but five contests. The gold cup was won by Captain Addington's Clinker, ridden by Captain Izod; and the United Service Stakes by Mr. Higgins's Village Maid. In the Royal Artillery Drag Hunt Steeplechase the running was made solely by Mr. Annesley's Bazaar, the other two, Mr. Turnbull's Big Ben and Mr. Thacker's Juverna, coming to grief at the fences and brooks'.
