People Gathering and Coming and Going Outside the Carlton Club in London, 1922. 'London's Carlton Club is the place where British Conservative policy generally takes final form. And it was here, at an historic meeting, that the Tories decided to break up the coalition and go it alone, for the country's mandate. Their leader was Mr. Bonar Law. But the real power behind the push was a newcomer, Stanley Baldwin, and behind that pipe and benign expression, was a mind sharp enough to surprise the country'. From "Time To Remember - Sitting Still And Going Slowly", 1922 (Reel 2); review of events in 1922 including Irish Troubles, war between Greece and Turkey and developments in aviation and radio.
