Sketches from Ireland: Reilly's farmhouse at Fartha, 1870. 'The farmhouse of Reilly, who was fired at,...the night before Crawford was shot, is situated at a place called Fartha, on the extreme borders of the county, quite close to Cavan. It stands on the ridge of a low hill, with numerous cabins and farmhouses in sight, and a considerable tract of bog in the immediate neighbourhood, and in the midst of a hilly, barren district. It is, however, a comfortable enough little place, such as a farmer of a couple of hundred acres might occupy, the rooms, which are of a tolerable size, all having boarded floors, and the walls of the sitting-room being hung all round with coloured engravings from the Illustrated London News'.
