The lost paradise of a fallen sultan: the Park and Lake at Yildiz Kiosk, 1909. Yildiz Palace is a vast complex of former imperial Ottoman pavilions and villas in Besiktas, Istanbul, Turkey. It was built in the 19th and early 20th centuries and was used as a residence by the sultan and his court. Abdul Hamid II, 34th sultan of the Ottoman Empire, was deposed in 1909.
