The French Prince Imperial at the Queen's Review of the Guards in Bushey Park, [west London], 1871. 'The review of the Household Brigade...by her Majesty the Queen, was successfully managed and was favoured with bright and pleasant weather. The Queen, in an open carriage drawn by four greys,...was accompanied by Prince Leopold and Princess Beatrice, with the Duchess of Roxburghe and the Hon. Mary Pitt in attendance. She was met in Bushey Park by the Prince and Princess of Wales, and the Princess of Wales then took a seat in the Queen's carriage. Prince Arthur and the Duke of Cambridge also joined her Majesty...The Queen beckoned the Prince Imperial to her carriage and talked for a few minutes with him...Loud cheering greeted the Prince Imperial as he rode off the ground in the rear of the Royal procession'.
