National Railway Museum, Leeman Road, York, 1975. Locomotive No. 4771 'Green Arrow' on display at the newly opened National Railway Museum in York. The National Railway Museum had been officially opened by the Duke of Edinburgh the previous day. The engine was the first of 184 V2 Class 2-6-2 locomotives built at the Doncaster works between 1936 and 1944 to a design by Nigel Gresley. Indended for fast frieght services the V2 Class was also used for passenger trains. Built for the London and North Eastern Railway 'Green Arrow' continued in service following nationalisation and was withdarwn in 1962.
