Statuette of Hercules, 2nd century A.D. Additional Info: Small scale figure of Hercules, exhausted by his final labor (the "weary Hercules" or "Farnese" type). The muscular hero has deep set eyes and a furrowed brow, with his head bent forward and drooping to the left. His right hand is held behind his back, clutching the apples of the Hesperides. The statuette is missing the left arm, the club on which Hercules would be propping himself up, as well as the right leg below the knee and the left foot. Much of the left side of the back has also splintered away.
