Head of a Veiled Woman, A.D. 160-190. Additional Info: This over-life-size head is of an older patrician woman wearing her hair in the style of the empress Faustina the Younger and so datable to the late Antonine period, around AD 175. Her face is fleshy and her eyes carefully detailed. She wears a veil over the back of her head. The head had been separated from the rest of the body (a full-length draped figure, 72.AA.153) at some point between 1937 and 1971.
