Jar (Wine Cooler?), 50-25 B.C. Additional Info: Jar with a globular body and narrow cylindrical neck that was constructed in two parts, the neck and body, and fitted together so that the upper piece overlaps the lower with a visible seam. The vessel may have had a lid and handles at one point, but these elements are now missing. The surface of the silver has not been polished and hammer marks are visible. Based on its shape and style, this jar may have been used to cool wine.
