Meeting between Henry Morton Stanley and David Livingstone, Africa, November 1871, (19th century). American journalist Henry Morton Stanley (1799-1869) finds British missionary and fellow explorer David Livingstone (1813-1873) in the village of Ujiji, on Lake Tanganyika. Stanley later claimed to have greeted Livingstone with the now-famous line, "Dr. Livingstone, I presume?". (Colorised black and white print).
