Creusa Receiving the Burning Jewelry from Medea; Des cas des nobles hommes et femmes, about 1413-1415. Additional Info: Clothed in a rich red gown trimmed with ermine fur, Creusa, daughter of the king of Corinth, reaches out her right hand to touch the jewels that will kill her. Smiling graciously and unaware, she accepts wedding gifts dipped in a magical potion that would burn when touched, as indicated by the flames leaping from the open casket on the right. The gift-givers, sons of Jason and Medea, transmit Medea's intentions toward the new bride-to-be of her former husband.
