Lady Dungarvan, Countess of Ailesbury (née Susannah Hoare), about 1760. Portrait of Lady Dungarvan, Later Countess of Ailesbury (Née Susannah Hoare). Additional Info: Susannah Hoare (1732-1783) was the elder daughter of Henry Hoare II from his second marriage. After the death of her first husband, Susannah resided at Stourhead, the family seat, with her father. Wearing a widow's cap, she is dressed in half-mourning with a pink silk gown lined with delicate black ruffles. Both pendant portraits, that of Susannah and her father, retain their original, matching gilt-wood frames decorated with curving leaves that culminate in c-shaped scrolls.
