The Banquetting Room, Royal Pavilion, Brighton [as designed by John Nash], 1 December 1824. The central chandelier hangs from a domed ceiling painted to resemble an Eastern sky. Measuring 9.1m in length and weighing almost a ton, it is embellished with six silvered dragons breathing 'fire' through lotus light shades.
