'Several Illustrations of the new building at Guildhall which the Corporation of the city of London have erected for a Public Library and Museum, were engraved for the last three Numbers of our Journal. The one presented this week shows the interior of the Museum, occupying the ground floor of the building, in which a temporary exhibition of historical portraits, relics of antiquity, and works of art or curious rarities has been arranged by the committee of management. It was opened during this week, and a large number of visitors have availed themselves of the privilege of admission'. From "Illustrated London News", 1872.
