Charles Sherwood Stratton (1838-1883), known by his stage name General Tom Thumb, was an American with dwarfism who achieved great fame as a performer under circus pioneer P. T. Barnum. The Adelaide Gallery in London was also known as the National Gallery of Practical Science, Blending Instruction with Amusement.
