Model of Niagara Falls and North American Indians from Mr Catlin's lecture at the Egyptian Hall, 1842. 'Catlin's North American Indian Gallery and Museum' was an attraction at the Egyptian Hall in London. American artist, traveller, and ethnographer George Catlin (1796-1872) spent eight years among the Plains Indians, and was familiar with their life and customs at a time when the Indians were still living far from that civilization which was to overtake and destroy them so rapidly.
